Week 1 <May 07 ~ 13> 2023

Fuseinatti Updates:

  • Pattern makers: Contacted over 15 new pattern makers for the new silk shirt that is going to be made completely from old Japanese silk fabric called, “絹”, romanized as “Kinu”. The shirt has extremely delicate silhouette, requiring certain cutting techniques for pattern makers to cut in exact shape.

Back & forth meetings with a pattern maker in Tokyo.

Fabric: More than 20 different fabric bolts have arrived. All are pure silk with some containing percentages of cotton. These Japanese fabrics were originally made between the 1950’s ~ 1980’s for traditional Japanese Kimono dresses that are known for their sophisticated feel, glittering shine, and vibrant colors.

Weekly Fashion Inspiration:

Kitano Takeshi: also known in Japan as Beat Takeshi (ビートたけし, Bīto Takeshi), is a Japanese comedian, actor, and filmmaker.

Kitano rose to prominence in the 1970s as one half of the comedy duo Two Beat, before going solo and becoming one of the three biggest comedians in the country. After several small acting roles, he made his directorial debut with 1989's Violent Cop and garnered international acclaim for Sonatine (1993).
